Welcome to the Jazz Notes podcast. I'm Ben Anderson. I'm Chandler Holtz. We are recording this on June 15th. We are a week and a day away from the 2026 NBA draft, and there is a lot of news going on. Specifically this morning with ESPN reporting that Darren Peterson has canceled his workout in Utah. We will talk about that more. Obviously, I've got some insight. on what I believe happened there and what I kind of have learned has happened there. We'll talk a little bit about Cam Boozer. We've talked about AJ and Darren Peterson in the last couple of episodes. We've recorded those live on 97.5, the KSL SportsZone. This will be more of your traditional, so it's not going to be two hours long, but it'll still be at least an hour. And then we'll get into your mailbag questions, as always. You can find us on social media at Ben's Hoops and Seaholt Sports and read us at kslsports.com. All right. Well, let's start with what everyone wants to know about, which is what happened with Darren Peterson. So you saw the report this morning from Sham Sharania that Darren worked out with the Wizards last week and AJ worked out with the Wizards last week. Now, I wrote on Friday that Cam Boozer had already been in town for the Jazz and that they were planning on workouts with Darren Peterson and AJ DeBonsa this week. Yes. And then Shams this morning says, well, AJ's completed his with the Jazz. So that happened yesterday or the day before, but after Friday. And Darren has since canceled his. And what I have learned is that Darren worked out with the Wizards and his camp came away very confident he's going to be the number one overall pick and therefore doesn't need to come to Utah because he's not going to be on the board.

yeah and we have a almost all of our mailbag questions about this so we'll get more more into this uh in the second half of the show but it is interesting you have to wonder if there is some sort of side angle going on here if you're seeing the gift wrapping or the gift you know

yeah absolutely look i will always tell you and i've been told this by so many people it's lying season yeah like it's smoke screen season all of this I'm not super intelligent, but I have a hard time zooming out or even trying to get like super worm brained about this and be like, I'm not sure I understand why this would be a play. Who would be benefiting here? Yeah. I think most people think AJD Bonsa is the top of the Jazz's draft board. Now, I don't know if I think that. In fact, I kind of don't think that, but I could be way off. This is a, that's totally a guess on my part. Yes. Um, But if that's the case, if AJ is the number one on the board, on the Jazz's board, and everybody thinks that, what's the play here? Like, so you get him at number two? Yeah. Okay. And in all honesty, like, I don't know if the Jazz were going to trade up to number one to get Darren Peterson unless the Jazz had decided Darren is so much better than everybody else in this draft. They have to have him. They have to come away with that player specifically. And now the Wizards are playing the Jazz in a sense where you have to give up an Ace Bailey and the No. 2 overall pick to move up to
