Welcome into the Jazz Notes podcast. I'm Ben Anderson. I'm Chandler Holtz. We are recording this after the NBA draft. It is January 24th where I am. It's still January 23rd where you are because I'm recording this just after midnight. And the Utah Jazz land Darren Peterson with the number two overall pick. That's their only move tonight. No trading back into the first round. No second round pick still. We'll see what they do. But the Jazz are in a spot now where they have a potential future face of the franchise in Darren Peterson.

Yeah, and it was kind of funny. I would say just about the first eight picks went relatively chalk, like we were expecting. Maybe Kambuza goes second. Maybe the Grizzlies do something crazy, take Caleb Wilson. But no, all the way out through the Nets and the Kings taking Darius Acuff, which I feel like everyone expected, kind of just played out how a lot of mock drafts had it.

I am going to tell you the truth. I do not know what happened in the draft tonight. I just like the way they did it tonight. I was going to try and be upstairs when they were announcing the picks. And I was worried if I did that because they were being pretty restrictive with the media. I wasn't going to be able to get downstairs to record some of the like podium stuff that they did. And I ended up sitting down there waiting for guys for 40 minutes. So I missed the actual draft pick themselves, draft picks themselves. But I did get that media stuff, which you'll be able to find at kslsports.com. We'll have it on our Instagram page. We'll have it all over our website, N975, the KSL Sports Zone. So if you want those, I thought they were pretty interesting. We will have them.

Uh, yeah. So biggest story, Darren Peterson to the jazz, which we talked about at length, uh, probably the best fit for the jazz, uh, debatably the best prospect in the class, him and AJ Devon. So we're kind of one a one B you can add cam boozers at one C in that, in that sort of argument, but best year to get a number two pick. Cause the jazz got a number one pick in any other draft. At Kansas, Peterson, 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, shot almost 40% from three. And honestly, it was kind of funny how in all of the availabilities from Austin Ainge, from Darren Peterson, just even Shams, as soon as the pick was made, all of the smoke sort of got out of the way. And we heard all this stuff that the meeting that Darren Peterson and the jazz had, which a lot of people I think assumed it was just like a video call of some sorts was actually the jazz going to Darren Peterson's hometown of Canton, Ohio. Um, if I, if I'm remembering this right from Austin Ainge, it was Austin Ainge, Avery Bradley, Justin Zanuck. Um, and
