161 turns · 46 minWelcome to the Jazz Notes Podcast. I'm Ben Anderson. I'm Chandler Holtz. We are recording this on August 17th. We are, what, five weeks away still probably from Media Day? Maybe even six weeks from today. I think six weeks. Six weeks. It's probably like September 29th, which would put us
right around there.
Yep. Which is going to come up quick, but I also understand if you're a Jazz fan and you're sitting and waiting for the season to start or any news, this is going to be the lull. Yes. Outside of, well, we're waiting to figure out if Kevin Love's going to be around or not. And even then, as we mentioned, kind of broke down last week, the roster's full. Yeah. There's just not a lot of news that I expect to come out other than, and I credit the Jazz. I think anything is better than nothing. All these workout videos the Jazz have been sharing, which I think is a nice touch. Yeah.
They're off-season full, too, for the off-season. You can have 21 players, I think, in the off-season, only 15 for the actual season. So if you are to bring Kevin Love back, that's another decision you have to make. And
like we said, they're already backlogged on one. They're already rumored to be signing one guy and need to make room for him already. So anyways, not a whole lot going on in jazz world. In fact, I should check the NBA transactions page just to make sure that nothing weird has happened. But no, certainly nothing is going on. So... News-wise for the Utah Jazz, roster-related, nothing. But we did get the schedule.
Yes, the schedule came out. So for this podcast, this might be the last bit of news, of course. There may be something that happens with the roster in the next
six weeks. Who knows? Keep listening.
But today we are going to go over the schedule a little bit. Of course, I think it was on Tuesday the preseason and NBA Cup dates and times were announced. On Monday, the day before that, the Jazz only knew of two of their preseason games because of the other team releasing their schedule, and we saw the Jazz on them. But then, yes, also got for group play the NBA Cup times. Real quick, the preseason schedule, we can just talk about this really quick. The first preseason game, will be on October 4th, and that's in Denver, but it's, I believe, at the Boulder campus, the Colorado Boulder campus. So it'll be kind of a homecoming for Cody Williams. He will be going back to where he played college basketball. And then two days later, both teams will come back to Salt Lake City to play again. So back-to-back against Denver, home and home. And then, kind of interesting, a five-day break. So you play October 6th against the Denver Nuggets. And then on October 12th, you're hosting the San Antonio Spurs. That game's also at 7 p.m. And then closing out the preseason in Phoenix on the 16th.
Spaced out. Very spaced out. Yeah, you've got three games total between the 6th and the 16th. That's pretty sparse, which honestly is probably fine at this point. You know, this team playing together a lot is going to be helpful because they're young and people are trying to figure out what roles they can get or earn. But... spacing it out a little bit once you start the season and
