Welcome into the Jazz Notes podcast. I'm Ben Anderson.
I'm Chandler Holtz.
We are recording this on May 18th. It has been a little while since we last recorded. Did we do one last Monday or did we do one the Sunday after the lottery?
Sunday after the lottery.
So it's been that rec- uh, that long ago. Uh, apologize, we had video issues last time. I know the audio even sounded a little wacky. Hopefully, that's not the case this time. But, uh, we are now sharing a studio with some other people, and, uh, we're a little shorter on time, but we should still have 45, 50 minutes is our goal today. Um, we will start out, there's not a lot of news and notes other than-
Mm-mm
... the combine just went on. And, uh, at one point you and I were thinking like, "Ugh, might have to be tracking eight or nine guys." And now it's like you're, I feel like you're tracking three guys.
Yes, absolutely.
Honestly, I think it's AJ, I think it's Darron Peterson, and I think it's Cam Boozer. I don't think Caleb Wilson is gonna be a part of this. Now, I could be wrong. He had decent measurements, six foot nine and a quarter, 210 pounds, maybe a little thinner than I thought. Uh, a seven-foot wingspan, which is not like the, again, what did I call him? Stranger Things monster-
[chuckles]
... from, uh, that Jaren Jackson Jr. was when he came into the league. Now, Caleb Wilson has way better numbers coming into the league than Jaren Jackson did, but I don't think projects as a three-point shooter for a while.
Yeah.
And he's almost 20. I just like, I think there's enough things there that make me say it's not gonna be Caleb Wilson.
I agree.
That I don't really think he's gonna factor that strongly into the conversation. So we will talk about him throughout the next month, but I don't think we're gonna, like, make him a key focus.
Yes. Agreed. Uh, talking about the next sort of month, I think there'll be five or six episodes before we, uh, get up to the NBA draft. We talked about we're gonna do an episode on each of the top three guys, and we're gonna do sort of a deeper dive into them. Um, today is just sort of a general talk about combine. Then, of course, we'll get into your mailbag questions, and then sometime before the draft, I think we might do a lottery mock draft, although not guaranteed. But that is, that is an idea.
We'll do the top two picks.
Yeah. [chuckles]
Just until the Jazz draft.
[chuckles]
Um, so we will talk about that. Uh, and then I tried to make some contacts during the break since we last talked, and I'll just kinda tell you what I've heard and just kind of what my feeling of what I'm hearing. Um, not on who I know the Jazz are gonna pick. I don't. [chuckles]
Yeah.
Nobody does. Um, I don't even know what the Jazz do, to be honest with you. But quickly, let's talk about the combine because that was the interesting part of it. Uh, AJ DiBonta, A+
