23 turns · 17 minHoliday cheer kicks off here. Marine Toys for Tots has launched its 79th holiday campaign, and this year Marines, volunteers, businesses, and neighbors are coming together in nearly 900 communities across America. The mission is simple. Collect new, unwrapped toys, books, and games for children whose families are facing hardship. Because a gift is more than a toy. It's hope. It's joy. It's a lasting memory and a reminder to a child that they are valued, remembered, and cared for. Give today to Marine Toys for Tots. The Dominic Carter Show. Entertaining and informative. On the Red Apple Podcast Network.
And I look forward to this segment every single Tuesday. It's when I get to chat live to former Congressman Peter King. Congressman, how are you, your wife, and your family?
Dominic, we're all doing great. Hope you are, too. And it's a great day for weather out there. Absolutely. And good spirits, our children, grandchildren. So I have nothing to complain about at all except what's going on in the world.
Oh, you can say that one again. And, folks, we see all your telephone calls. We'll get back to them in a few minutes. Hey, Congressman, what is the key here to life? I notice that you're not getting older. Your wife's not getting older. What's the key?
Well, I guess we look better than we really are. I think it's to stay active, to stay positive. not focusing on yourself, but on your family and your friends, and just keep going. I mean, I decided I was going to retire. I wasn't going to just sit around and, you know, go to a senior citizen's home and play canasta or something. I wanted to stay as active as I could. As long as I had the good health, I was going to stay active. I've been doing that. I'm doing, you know, consulting work for the police on terrorism. I'm being very active in the local, you know, the Nassau County Republican Party, working on Bruce Blakeman's campaign, working on... Janine Driscoll's campaign for Congress. And I write a column for the local newspaper. I do a little work for a law firm. And most important of all, I do a Dominic Carter show.
Hey, Congressman, you mentioned Blakeman. I get these instincts, these feelings every now and then, and they're creeping around again in me. Not to say necessarily that Blakeman is going to win, but he has one hell of a shot. Picked up a big Democrat endorsement just the other day, the actress. It just seems that things are going his way. And I know with great interest, I watched Governor Hochul Right. And at a regular news conference, I made this point yesterday. She's reading off of a teleprompter. If you look at her, Congressman, she'll look at the camera and then watch her head. She nods down and what she's getting the talking points off the prompter. And this is the governor of the entire state that just appointed Letitia James in the Cornell case. How does the race look to you?
It looks very, very good for the same reasons that you're saying. Now, listen, the realities are there's millions more Democrats in the state. The fact that she has probably 10, 20 times more money than Bruce. She started that way ahead.
