Proto Enables Privacy Token Standard on Beldex Testnet: When Privacy Is Built Into the Token Itself

This audio is presented by Hacker Noon, where anyone can learn anything about any technology. Prota enables privacy token standard on Beldex Testnet. When privacy is built into the token itself by Beldex. Public blockchains made digital assets programmable, transferable, and accessible across applications. But they also introduced a fundamental trade-off. Financial activity is often publicly observable by default. A token can power a decentralized application, represent an asset, facilitate payments, or provide access to a service. Yet on most transparent blockchain networks, the transactions involving that token can leave a publicly traceable history. Privacy is then something developers have to add later as an afterthought. Beldex changes this approach. At Beldex, we have taken the exact opposite approach. We start with privacy at the network layer and build outward from there. With confidential assets, also known as privacy tokens, now live on the Beldex testnet, we are extending that approach beyond BDX and enabling developers to deploy, issue their own privacy-preserving assets directly on the Beldex network. The implementation is being introduced through the Proto testnet hard fork at block height four million two hundred forty-two thousand two hundred. Developers can now deploy and test privacy tokens on the Beldex testnet and obtain testnet BDX through the Beldex faucet. The problem with adding privacy later. Blockchains were designed around verifiability. That has enormous benefits, but transparency also creates challenges when blockchain infrastructure is used for financial activity that users or businesses may not want exposed publicly. On a transparent network, transaction information can potentially be analyzed to build a picture of how an address interacts with other addresses and applications. This correlation may sometimes also reveal information pertaining to a user's Web3 identity. Developers can attempt to introduce privacy at the application level, but the underlying asset may still operate on transparent infrastructure. This raises a broader question: what if privacy were a property of the asset itself? That is the idea behind privacy tokens on Beldex. Instead of issuing an asset first and subsequently building mechanisms to make its transactions private, developers can issue tokens on infrastructure where transaction confidentiality is already part of the underlying network. Privacy at the asset layer. Privacy tokens are independently issued assets on Beldex that inherit transaction-level privacy from the network. The initial implementation uses Beldex's UTXO-based architecture, extending the privacy model used for BDX to other assets issued on the network. This allows sensitive transaction information, including sender and recipient details, transferred amounts, and balances to remain protected from public visibility. As Beldex chairman Aufendi Bin Husni explains, "Privacy tokens lets developers build an entire application economy where privacy is the starting point. It isn't just another token standard. Whether it's a private DeFi protocol, a confidential reward system, or a new dApp entirely that no one has
