Okay, a conversation about the human spirit. But are there other spirits that are not human? Huh? Have I intrigued you? Or if you think that an opening like that on something like The God Show is intriguing... then listen to this from a book that we did a while back with the author D.W. or Diana Pasulka. That book was Encounters. And the subtitle, Explorations with UFOs, Dreams, Angels, AI, and Other Dimensions. And The new book, The Others, the subtitle is UFOs, AI, and the Secret Forces Guiding Human Destiny. And if you're not intrigued so far, and if you're saying, oh, that's just a bunch of nonsense, that's that science fiction stuff, how about if the author, D.W. Pasolka, adds something like all of those things and the Catholic Church. How am I doing so far, Pasolka?
Not bad, not bad.
Okay, now listen, nobody wants to call you D.W., so how should we refer to you conversationally on the next Hour of the God show?
Oh, definitely my name, Diana.
And its secret, along with everything else, one of the Greek goddesses. The others is different from the encounters. How are the two books different? And from the other books that you've written.
Yeah, sure. So as you know, I've been a religious studies professor. So a professor of religious studies, we are not theologians, so we're not advocating for any religion. We actually study it academically, which means that we're not professing a belief. We're not advocating for a belief. So I've been at the University of North Carolina since the early 2000s, and I have a PhD in religious studies from Syracuse University. And what I've been doing for a good portion of my career is looking at the history of Christian belief, so Christian belief in dogmas and doctrines of the Catholic Church specifically. And so I looked at things like the doctrine of purgatory. What did Catholics believe about that in the 1500s, in the 1600s? And so it was during this time period that I was going into archives, which are libraries of old manuscripts and books and things like that from a long time ago. And so I went all over the world, but mostly Ireland, the United States, and sometimes the Vatican. And I would look at, you know, how Catholics in the 1200s throughout the 1800s assessed, you know, what how did they come to this belief in purgatory? And so I was doing this work, which is pretty academic work. And I kept coming across this. things that people would see in the sky, so aerial phenomena. And I noticed that Catholics would have various ways of interpreting these things, and sometimes they would interpret them as angels, sometimes they would interpret them as souls from purgatory, or they had a variety of these interpretations.
They're all over the Bible.
Yes, they are. They are. So I would write these down. Now, you have to understand that I I didn't believe in UFOs. OK. And I was somebody who had never actually been interested in studying anything that had to do with UFOs. I was one of the people that scoffed at belief in UFOs. I didn't even see close encounters of the third kind. So that's kind of how how out of it I was. But, you
