Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil akhirati hasanah wa qina azaban-nar wa adkhilna al-jannata ma'al-abrar. Amma ba'd. Faqad qala Allahu ta'ala fi kitabihil majid ba'da ana a'udhu billahi minash shaitanir rajim. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Ma kana Muhammadun aba ahadin min rijalikum wa lakin Rasulullahi wa khataman-nabiyyin. Wa kan Allahu bikulli shay'in 'alima. Sadaqallahul 'azhim. Amma ba'd. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the Quran, Ma kana Muhammadun aba ahadin min rijalikum wa lakin Rasulullahi wa khataman-nabiyyin. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu ta'ala alaihi wasallam is not the father of any of your men, but instead he is the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the seal of the prophets. Now there's a lot of tafsir on what "not the father of any of your men" means, but there's a consistent agreement amongst the mufassireen and the muhadditheen that the ayah can be taken literally. That Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam was not the father of any men from the sahabah radhiallahu anhum. His lineage continues through his daughters, Zainab radhiallahu anha, Ruqayyah radhiallahu anha, Umme Kulthum radhiallahu anha, and Fatima radhiallahu anha, the banat of Sayyida waladi Adam, the daughters of the chief of mankind, Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And normally, we give much attention, deservedly so, to Fatima radhiallahu anha. This is the daughter who lived past Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam, the only one to do, to live past his life, and perhaps the most prominent in this regard as a scholar, as someone who shaped the community around her. Yet, no less importance should be given to the other daughters of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam, and particularly not the eldest of them, Zainab radhiallahu anha. Today's lecture insha'Allah will be all about Zainab binti Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam wa radhiallahu anha. Now, obviously, when discussing any sahabi, it helps to discuss their lineage, the lineage by which they connect to Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam. When we discussed Abu Bakr radhiallahu anhu, we found him to be a fifth cousin of Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam, or a sixth cousin. Umar radhiallahu anhu was a fifth cousin. Ali radhiallahu anhu was a direct cousin. Uthman radhiallahu anhu was around the seventh cousin. And, well, Zainab radhiallahu anha is simply his daughter. So Zainab radhiallahu anha binti Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn Abd Manaf ibn Qusai ibn Kilab ibn Murrah ibn Ka'b ibn Lu'ay ibn Ghalib ibn Fihr ibn Malik ibn Nadhr ibn Kinanah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Mudrikah ibn Ilyas ibn Mudar ibn Nizar ibn Ma'ad ibn Adnan. That's her lineage to Adnan, going directly through her father, Nabi sallallahu ta'ala alaihi wasallam. Now, Zainab radhiallahu ta'ala anha was born in twenty three BH, twenty three years before the Hijrah, when Nabi sallallahu ta'ala alaihi wasallam was thirty years old. So that's ten BW, ten years before Wahy. And by the consensus of all
