Before we start, inshallah, let's all first make niyyah, correct our intentions, that we're sitting here for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, and that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allows this to be beneficial for all of us, and that He allows us to implement these qualities of the sahabah radiallahu anhum ajma'een. We'll start off by saying of Sufyan bin Aina rahimahullah, where he says, عند ذكر صالحين تنزل الرحمة He says that when you mention, when you talk about the righteous people, when you talk about the pious people, then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sends down rahmah. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sends down blessings. And we know the sahabah radiallahu anhum to be at the peak of righteousness and piousness. So when you speak about the sahabah radiallahu anhum, then we hope for the blessings of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to descend upon us. So this week, inshaAllah, today we'll be speaking about Ayyub al-Ansari radiallahu anhu. His actual name was Khalid bin Zayd radiallahu anhu. And we see this common theme within the Sahaba radiallahu anhum. In fact, others at that time as well, where they had a name, but their nickname, their kunyah, was much more famous than their actual name. For example, you have Abu Hurairah radiallahu anhu, who's commonly known for Abu Hurairah radiallahu anhu. Whereas his actual name was Abdur-Rahman bin Sakhar . And then you have Abu Dharr , where his actual name was Jundub ibn Junadah . And likewise, you have Abu Ayyub al-Ansari , wherein his actual name was Khalid bin Zayd . And so the story starts way before Nabi ﷺ even migrated from Mecca to Madinah, We know in Mecca, Nabi ﷺ was going through many difficulties, persecutions from the Quraysh, from the mushrikun of Mecca. And so in the latter years of his stay in Mecca, Nabi ﷺ was looking for some tribes, some cities outside of Mecca that could take him in, that could help him, that could assist him in conveying the message of Allah ﷻ. in the days of Hajj, he would go to different tents that would come from far and wide, and he would go to each tent and say, that who's going to take me in, who's going to host me, who's going to help me, so that I may convey the message of Allah . And so we see that Allah shows the people of Yathrib, the people of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, for this honor of hosting Nabi . that these people, they came for Hajj one year, and they heard about Nabi ﷺ, they went to him, they visited him, they heard about what he's preaching, and they agreed to host him in Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. And so in the twelfth year of Nubuwwah, you had six people come from Madinah who pledged allegiance to Nabi ﷺ, and this was known as Al-Bay'at al-Aqabah al-Ula, the first pledge of Bay'at al-Aqabah. The following year, in the 13th year of Hijrah, 13th year of Nubuwa, before Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam migrated, you had 70 people come from Medina, who again pledged their allegiance to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So we could see that before even Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam migrated to Medina,
