1 turns · 1 hr 10 min[speaking Arabic] Alhamdulillah, we are here with this very beautiful surah, Surah Al-Kawthar. We may all know that this is a short surah, but technically this is the sh- shortest surah in the Quran, three ayat and ten words. So if we are counting, there are other ay-- surahs have three ayat, but this is shortest for words count, word count. Such a, a brief surah that is so comprehensive, such a great bashara for us, such a great lesson for us from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala through Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. As you can see in the translation, Inna a'tayna kal kawthar. Indeed, we have granted you, O Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. If it's in brackets, that means it is defining what is not explicitly mentioned in the verse itself. The verse just says, Inna a'tayna ka, we have granted you. Ka meaning you. To O Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, we have granted you Al-Kawthar, abundant goodness, or it's a river in Jannah as different hadith we will cover. This is mentioning the gift to Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Then fa is as a result of this gift. So what should you do in turn is that sallili rabik, pray to your Lord Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Waw means and wanhar, and sacrifice to Him, to Him alone. Different charitable offerings. Again, this is in brackets. The object of the verb wanhar. Wanhar is a imperative verb, it's a command fi'il. And what should you sacrifice is not explicitly mentioned, but understood. And sacrifice for Allah all different forms of charitable offerings to Him alone. Inna shaniaka. Inna verily shaniaka, the one who is hating you. Shana'a means to hate. Shaniaka, who is your hater. It is not somebody who just has a different opinion about a matter, um, different approach, but rather the one who is actually harboring enmity and hatred, long-standing opposition. That person huwal abtar. He himself is the one who will be utterly cut off. This is in response to particular taunt given to Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. The sabab an-nuzul is that there were on number of different occasions, different narrations d-- uh, are there, slight variation, but the gist is the same. That Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had different tests from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and amongst the different tests that Allah Ta'ala put him through as Allah Ta'ala wanted to elevate his status is that he had the death of his sons. Um, starting off with the first one, Qasim. Um, that is why he has the title Abu Al-Qasim Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And then after that was Abdullah, uh, who had the title of Tayyib and Tahir. And then later on in Medina was Ibrahim. So when his sons passed away or first one passed away, if it's Makki surah, then, um, Aas ibn Wail was one of the mushrikin. Then there were other narrations, other mushrikin. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala kept it generic here, did not specify. He said, "Inna shaniaka, verily the one who is hating you." They came to Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, they mocked him, and they said that, "We don't have to worry about him. We don't have to worry about his mission. He is going to be an utter failure. Huwal abtar. He
