1 turns · 1 hr 3 min[reading Quran] [footsteps] [coughing] [speaking Arabic] This is a very brief surah, the hundred and seventh surah with seven ayat. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala gives us a complete diagnosis, diagnostic test of the condition of our heart, condition of our aqidah, condition of our belief, and condition of our practice for us all to think and ponder and reflect and do our own muhasabah. Look deeply into our own souls, into our own actions, rather than passing judgments about other people and reaching conclusions regarding others. And na'udhu billah, coming to a wrong conclusion that somebody is a kafir, yukadhdhibu biddin, he denies the Day of Judgment because of some action that we may see. Rather, we need to look deeply into our own actions. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, in this surah, the primary subject and the theme of this surah is when we profess and we say that we are mu'min, we believe in the Day of Judgment, what are the tests for that? Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala will not just take it for lip service, but when it comes to showing mercy to the creation of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, when it comes to having, uh, our ibadah of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, is there true ikhlas in it or are we performing salah to impress other peoples? And even the ordinary service, wa yamna'oon al-ma'oon. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is testing our iman. Some of the diagnostic testing of the iman is the first one, ara'ita alladhi yukadhdhibu biddin. Have you seen, have you considered, have you thought about, uh, the one who denies din, the Day of Judgment, the recompense, the day when-- of accountability and judgment from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala? This is the same din in-- that we are very familiar with from Surah Al-Fatiha. Alhamdulillahi rabbil 'alamin, ar-rahman, ar-rahim, maliki yawm ad-din. Master of the Day of Judgment. So, what is the test if we have tasdiq bi yawm ad-din or takdhib bi yawm ad-din? Whether we are believing in the Day of Judgment or we are not believing in the Day of Judgment. When no one is watching, what is the condition of our actions? Are we restraining ourself from the disobedience of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala when no one is watching us? This is one of the litmus tests. The next is, um, how do we deal with vulnerable people amongst, uh, the weakest in society, the orphans, who do not have anyone to argue on their behalf, to defend them. They do not have a father. So when we see this weakness, does that invite us to exploit them, take advantage of their weakness, or does it create within us the desire to protect, the desire to defend, the desire to help the orphans? The third diagnostic test is... This is about having mercy, but beyond that is fa wayrul lil musalleen. Woe to those who are performing salah. Destruction for those who are performing salah, such a salah that they are heedless. They are ghafil. They are unaware of which rakah they're performing. They are not focused in their salah. They are performing salah to show to others, alladhina hum yura'oon. So this is the next test. What is the condition of our salah? What is the condition of our intention in salah? And wa yamna'oon al-ma'oon. What is the condition when it comes to
