And then he traveled all the way to South Africa in Darul Ulum Zakaria. when he completed his alimiyyah program, and then he further specialized in hadith under Mufti Bana, Hafizahullah. And after returning, Mu'assab has been teaching here at Darussalam for a number of years. We make dua that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala accepts all of his efforts and continues to use him for the khitmah, the service of deen. Ameen ya rabbal alameen. So to start, let's get a brief outline of what we'll be speaking about. So this is just kind of a map of how we're going to go through it. Number one, we'll just set the stage. Okay, we'll try to mention some introductory points. Thereafter, we'll discuss some examples from the life of the Nabi ﷺ and the Sahaba of circumstances in which they had difficulties and they had to exhibit sabr or patience. Thereafter, we'll talk about prophetic wisdom, guidance from hadith on dealing with difficulties, and what the reward is that's associated with that. Finally, we'll talk about practical advice at a fiqh level, at a practical level, at a life level, that what is allowed when we have difficulties and what is not, and then we'll end with some just practical tips for us that what our philosophy should be when we approach difficulties and when we encounter difficulties. May Allah Ta'ala give us tawfiq. So first of all, Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, setting the stage. What we picture over here is that this we can understand to be somebody's life. Where you have the blue squares, those represent easy times, and you have the red squares, those represent harder times. And we know undoubtedly every single person in their life undergoes both easy times and hard times. This is something that happens. Allah says undoubtedly we will test you with varying forms of tests. That sometimes you have a depletion in your financial resources. May Allah protect us. Sometimes you have loss of life. loss of wealth, loss of provisions. So Allah says, those who have studied Arabic know this, وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ So that is لَمْ تَأْكِيدْ مَعَنُونْ ثَقِيلًا In other words, Allah says there is beyond the slightest shadow of a doubt, we will certainly test you with these various things. Allah goes on to say, الَّذِينَ إِذَا
