Peter Ford provides the latest details on the trial of Sam Wood

Just a bit of breaking news now, which I, I appreciate his time. Pete Ford, of course you know him well, on 3AW, is, is here to give us an update on Sam Wood. So he's faced a Queensland court today, and the court heard that he allegedly choked his wife and banged her head against the floor, and he's now facing serious domestic violence allegations. Pete, thanks for your time today.

Yes. Hi, Jackie. Yeah, the belief was he was probably going to get bail, but he is not. And I guess the other big story that has come out of it, now we can say that it was his wife, Snezana. I hope I'm saying that correctly. Uh, and she, of course, was the lady that he met when he went on The Bachelor, and it's one of those rare stories of a, a romance that, that has lasted the distance. So the other thing that is, makes it very odd now that we can openly say that it was his wife that he allegedly choked and, and tried to strangle, although we should point out he's denying the strangulation part. Um, i-i-it, it-- That statement that came out on Monday morning at about eight thirty AM, which was from the Wood family, and that said, you know, "We are working through this and cooperating," and whatever. So, you know, m- did Snezana actually authorize that to go out?

Oh.

We don't know that at this point. I think it's quite interesting.

Okay. So she wasn't in court, though, but did the court, um, w- did she provide a video to the court?

Yes, a video. Uh, the, the-- I don't know if that was actually played to the court, but certainly it was presented as evidence. And they did make the point that she is, uh, she wants the charges to go ahead. Don't think for a second she's somehow backing away. Uh, she wants this to proceed. And they did also show photographic evidence of the injuries that she, uh, allegedly incurred during the, the, the altercation.

A- and the court heard, I, I read that the, the triple zero call was actually made by, by his stepdaughter, um-

Yes

... in relation to the incident.

Yes. And again, you know, I guess she was part of that statement from the Wood family. So anyway, that is the big outcome, Jackie, that bail denied.
