Well, my guest today makes around three thousand dollars a year from every one of those that he places, and he's done it over two hundred times so far. So today, you're gonna learn how it all works and how you can do the same thing in your area. From megansdailydish.com, John Schierman. Welcome to the Side Hustle Show.
Ah, thank you for having me, Nick. This is gonna be fun.
I'm excited for this one. So let's, let's break it down. Step one, I gotta find a location that wants a chalkboard or a white erase board, and we'll get into those details. You know, you're giving it to the restaurant for free, so that part doesn't seem like that hard a sell.
It's not. The, the restaurant industry is kind of set up that way. Restaurants love free stuff. I mean, it started with the diners off in rural America that, you know, would have a place mat in front of 'em, and it would have places to do Tic-Tac-Toe or a crossword or some stuff on it, and then ringed around the edges were all the local advertisers. And so the boards are wonderful just because, A, they love the free stuff. It's an easy trade out. I'm gonna give you this free board. You can go ahead and put on your daily specials. You can put on your happy hour promo. Put on a discount for your merchandise. What's an upcoming event that you wanna tell people about? And they love 'em because, you know, if you're, if you're a high-traffic restaurant, you've got people waiting on Friday, Saturday night when it's really busy. They've got people looking at that board all the time. It's an easy giveaway.
So giving it away for free, not that hard to get somebody to say yes to that. "Sure, we'll take one of these. What's the catch? What's the deal?" So now the, the catch is I'm gonna sell sponsorship spots. I'm gonna sell advertising on the bottom of the board, and you got, uh, an example of it behind you. So if you're on, uh, audio, on the
