Hello, everyone. This is OmniTalk Retail. I'm Chris Walton, and you are listening to the Retail Daily Minute, your quickest, fastest breakdown of all the day's top retail news. Today's podcast is brought to you once again with the help and support of ZenLine AI, because you have likely heard about AI agents a thousand times this year. but are also probably wondering what they can do for you as a retailer. So visit tryzenline.ai to book a call and see how agents can bring you more margin. Today is October 19th, 2026. And this morning, we've got news on the record share of American households now buying groceries online and ChachiBT's new virtual try-on feature. But we begin today with a big claim about agentic commerce. Stripe president John Collison said this week on his own podcast, The Cheeky Pint, great name, that agentic commerce activity at Stripe, quote, basically started going vertical, end quote. As of September, he said, he made the comment during a conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, I think I've heard of him, and Meta's chief AI officer, Alexander Wang. As the three discussed Meta's AI assistant muse and its ability to buy things on a user's behalf. Zuckerberg acknowledged that Meta has spent as much as $200 billion building out its AI capabilities, and Amazon has already banned Muse from shopping its site, saying it would breach its terms. Zuckerberg's response? Without naming Amazon, he said the companies that try to block it will likely come to regret it, and that far more businesses are calling Meta asking to integrate than are trying to keep it out. Therefore, the question on my mind is no longer whether agents will show up at your digital front door. It's whether you let them in on whose terms and who owns the customer relationship when you do. Amazon has clearly made its choice. Most retailers haven't yet. And remember, agentic shopping is one thing. Agentic payments where the bot actually pays and someone has to eat the charge back when it gets the order wrong is still a much thornier problem. And I got to hand it to Collison because going vertical sure is a cool way to describe what could be about to happen.

All right, we are back and our next story comes from the grocery world where online grocery just hit another milestone. According to Brick Meets Clicks monthly shopper surveys, aka my grocery data bible, U.S. online grocery sales grew 20.7% in the third quarter versus a year ago, marking the eighth straight quarter of growth above 20%. And in September, nearly 64% of U.S. households bought groceries online, which was also a new record. The most interesting detail, however, is where that growth came from. Delivery drove three quarters of the increase, growing more than 30%, while pickup grew only in the mid single digits. In other words, delivery is taking share from pickup, which is a
