  • Great walk along the harbour wall Can show kids how to fish from the Jetty Finish your adventure with a bite to eat or just a quick drink at the Rock Restaurant, Breakfast Room or the Gecko, they all have a great view and friendly service
  • There was only one company doing the whale watching tour when we visited this site in September, so the ticket price were exorbitant and we didn't do it. We did it later in Capetown for 300 rand on a Jolly Roger pirate ship.
  • The whale watching experience was good. I got to see 3 whales breaching multiple time. I also ate at a place called Bientangs Cave Restaurant and Wine bar.
  • We had an amazing Whale Tour with Hermans Whale Tours. We saw Southern Right Whales, Hump-back Whales, and a Bryde’s Whale. We also saw penguins and cormorants. The staff were friendly and the boat was clean.

  • Hermanus New Harbour is home to the whale watching industry with many services on offer from the harbour. There are also a few restaurants which makes their home here, but overall, the harbour doesn’t have a particularly entertaining or engaging vibe as one would associate with Kleinmond harbour just up the road from Hermanus. You pay R5 ($0.30) to a man collecting cash at the entrance where it appears the boom gates have not worked for a long time. So who know whether this is legitimate cash collection. The harbour is reasonably clean and it’s good to see NSRI rescue services based there.…
  • We took the boys fishing at night. What an extraordinary experience watching the local, entertaining and very skilled fisherman ~ catch squid with a bright light to attract the fish at night... absolutely thrilling. We saw schools of fish, a stingray and loads of squid. The new harbour is a truly beautiful place that gives you a real quaint blue & white harbour experience 💙
  • The whale watching cruises leave from this harbour. A walk along the wharf is a must with breath taking views of the coastline. The harbour is busy with cruise boats, sail boats and deep water diving. Curios are for sale from local traders and refreshments are available. An entrance fee of R5.00 is payable to enter the harbour
  • Definitely worth your time popping in to the harbor. Perfect opportunity to take loads of pictures of the picturesque surroundings. This is also where your whale watching experience begins.
