  • The Great Synagogue in Tbilisi is a remarkable religious and historical site for the Jewish community in Georgia. Its elegant architecture, intricate interior details, and serene atmosphere make it a place of cultural and spiritual significance. Visiting the synagogue provides insight into the rich heritage and traditions of Georgian Jews.
  • We are jews from israel. In my life I never experienced "welcome" like this. Like in israel we walk right in, ask for kipa, ok, provived. We proceed inside, my husband straight to aron hakodesh. Employer follow us like we try to steal something. I see prayer books upside down, i turn them right. The employer offer us pictures of the synagogue and we gave him 20 lari zedaka because i felt awkward. We try to speak in hebrew, ask about jewish comminuty today and history or georgian jews. No asnwers. Very weird. Ive been synagogues in many countries but never felt like this hostile. We are jews?…
  • The space itself is simple, and aside from the history, there isn’t much that stands out—so it’s not a must-see.
  • We have visited here with my wife for a short time. Except for any other holy places in Tbilisi but here one gentleman said hi and I responded then he immediately asked our country which I find awkward. Told him we were from Turkey and he said “Good very good” Then I explained that we were just curious to see inside. He welcomed. After a couple of minutes, he clap his hands to point gently to the way out. He was kind and I kinda understood because we were talking about something philosophical about divine religions by whispering which might not be appropriate there. We felt bad about it. But…

  • Nice to be able to see this Shul in Georgia, this was built about a hundred years ago or more and still is active and in use today. They were building a Sukkah today for the holiday.
  • Historic place for the Sephardic Jews that used to live in Tbilisi in a greater number before the move to Israel. Would be nice to see the inside.
  • The Tbilisi Great Synagogue is located on Jerusalem Street in a red bricks lovely building, spectacular design. As soon as I entered the building, I have met with the community chairman that told me about the history of the place and the history of the Georgian Jews. The inner building consists of 2 floors, each with a separate synagogue. The place is amazing in its beauty, saves and wounderfully maintaned. Many Non-Jewish tourists also visit the place. In my opinion, a mandatory visit place for every Jews visiting Tbilisi.
  • Great great Synagogue in the old Tbilisi! It is located, where before was a Jewish quarter. Synagogue built in 19 century and It is still so beautiful and colorful! There are two floors and second one more beautiful! If you want to visit, try to ask security in the courtyard, not always but most of the time they will aloud you to enter! I highly recommend to visit this place.
