We visited De Hoef 1627 in Uccle with my wife and family after my sister had highly recommended it. We booked in advance, which was a good idea as the place gets busy quickly. We were seated at a nice round table next to the fireplace, which made for a really cozy atmosphere. We shared several starters to begin (frog legs, boudin, shrimp croquettes, etc.), then everyone went for red meat as a main (côte à l’os, Simmental/Limousin meat, tomahawk…). The food was genuinely tasty, though service was a bit slow and some of the meat wasn’t grilled as requested at first. The waiter was very helpful…

Excellent meat is served here, and for a very long time. The place has been a Restaurant since the 17th Century and the decoration of the front room doesn't seem to have changed much since then. It's ancient obviously... Huge chunks of meat are (pre) cooked in the open fire a waiter keeps on feeding with big logs. Service is absolutely perfect with all waiters indistinctively rushing from table to table to see if there is any thing needed, clean used plates, change glasses. The waiters never stop and are all extremely friendly. It's like a bee hive. I had the 330g rib eye while my wife had…

Great atmosphere, decent price, very long time between courses of our menu, but presumably because the 12-person table enxt to us was a bit of a hassle for the staff, who was otherwise very nice and courteous

Been here about 6 times now. Very good food honestly. However the only downside is that the order needs 45-60 mins. And that there is always a large group of people in the terrasse area that are super loud. Would be nice if they could calm them down when it gets out of hand. But the food is greatt ! And the staff is super nice.

Beyond disappointed of this place. Nothing work out for us - we do these type of restaurants once a week and this is by far the worst… Even the dressing of the salad not that great, the sauces of the meat totally unbalanced.. we paid 75€ our wine and it was NOT worth it… this place is not worth your money you can find better…

Every time I visit Brussels, a stop at De Hoef is an absolute must. Established in 1627, this place isn't just a restaurant, it's a piece of Belgian history. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, like a family reunion that never gets old. Now, the food is unforgettable. The meat is unbelievably tender, cooked to absolute perfection. Each bite practically melts in your mouth. And the fried potatoes? Golden, crispy, and bursting with flavor! It's not just a meal, it's an experience, and to me, it's the very definition of Belgium.

In Brussels town, there shines a spot, Where steaks are sizzling, piping hot. With golden fries that crackle, sing, And sauces fit for any king. A salad sharp, refreshing, bright, Keeps tastebuds dancing through the night. The house wine flows: oh, what a sign, A ruby glass of pure divine. De Hoef, you charm with homely grace, A friendly smile in every place. No finer feast my heart could choose, Than nights well spent with you, my muse.

Fabulous restaurant, one of the best veal kidneys in mustard sauce I’ve had. The dark rustic interior adds to the atmosphere (you need to make a reservation) we didn’t have one and they went out of their way to help. I highly recommend this restaurant, the wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive.
