My recent visit to the home, final resting place, and museum dedicated to the renowned Bangladeshi artist SM Sultan was an incredibly enriching experience. The historical significance of the site, coupled with the opportunity to witness firsthand the powerful and evocative artworks of this celebrated master, left me deeply moved. The museum provided a fascinating glimpse into Sultan's life and artistic journey, while the serene atmosphere of his final resting place offered a moment of quiet reflection.

Last year, I had the pleasure of taking my friends from Dhaka to visit the house of the legendary artist Sheikh Mohammed Sultan, popularly known as S M Sultan. The experience was both enriching and inspiring. The complex beautifully preserves the essence of Sultan’s life and work, showcasing his contributions to Bengali art. The exhibits, particularly his depictions of robust Bengali peasants in their daily lives, are awe-inspiring. It's fascinating to see how his early works reflect Western techniques like Impressionism, while his later pieces display a deliberate shift towards decolonizing…
S. M. Sultan was one of the greatest personalities in this district. He was Bangladesh avant-garde artist who worked in painting and drawing. His fame rests on his striking depictions of exaggeratedly muscular Bangladeshi peasants engaged in the activities of their everyday lives. Had a good time here....
I have been there on about 2 days ago, I was so glad to finally see my favourite printers home and his directly painted pictures. I'll be very glad to go there again I think everyone should know our culture and our very own talented painters whose fame spread worldwide. after visiting his district now I understand how he could draw so many beautiful natural pictures, because his place, our country is that much beautiful, actually.
A beautiful place. Must visit if you go to Norail. The place is beautiful. The ticket is 10/- and the gallery opens when 4 people are available. No camera or phone is allowed inside the gallery so I couldn't get any picture of the inside. There are real replicas of the art of famous S.M. Sultan, as well as his used materials and clothes. Also, there is a beautiful rare flowering plant (you'll see when you go there).
