The defendant, Desmond Herbert Cousin, was charged by bill of information with bank fraud, a violation of La. R.S. 14:71.1. He pled not guilty and, following a jury trial, was found guilty as charged. The defendant filed a motion for postverdict judgment of acquittal, which was denied. The defendant was sentenced to six years imprisonment at hard labor. The State filed a habitual offender bill of information.
