In March 1992, the trial court committed respondent, Linda Jeffers, for involuntary hospitalization in the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (DMHDD). The State thereafter petitioned the court pursuant to section 2 — 107.1 of the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code (Code) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 91½, par 2—107.1), for authority to administer psychotropic medication to respondent against her will. After a hearing, the court granted that petition.
