It is alleged in the complaint, in substance: (i) That on May 22, 1903, the defendant executed and delivered to the plaintiff his promissory note, whereby he promised to pay the plaintiff $575, on November 1, 1903, with interest payable annually at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum from date until paid.
