Cross appeals from an order of the Family Court of Rensselaer County (Spain, J.), entered July 31, 1990, which, in two proceedings pursuant to Family Court Act article 6, inter alia, dismissed applications for sole custody of the parties’ child.

The parties were married in 1971 and entered into a separation agreement in June 1983. They had three children, two from petitioner’s earlier marriage who were adopted by respondent and a son born in April 1975.
