This is a suit in slander. At the time the slanders are alleged to have been uttered, the plaintiff was the daughter-in-law of defendant, but had abandoned her husband, and was, as. defendant thought, bringing scandal upon herself and upon' the family into which she had married, by allowing a Mr. Gilham to be too assiduous in his ■attentions to her, receiving his visits, and almost daily riding out with him in his buggy, and going to the moving picture shows with him.
