The defendant, Otis L. Hasty, was convicted by a jury of manslaughter in the first degree in violation of K. S. A. *621-410, and sentenced to imprisonment in the Kansas State Penitentiary pursuant to K. S. A. 21-421.
Following a preliminary examination in Sedgwick County, about which no complaint is made, the defendant was charged by an information in the district court with committing the crime of manslaughter in the first degree on January 1, 1964, by performing an illegal abortion upon the body of Carlene Whitney, a pregnant woman, which…
