Patrick Koroma entered negotiated pleas of guilty under North Carolina v. Alford , 400 U.S. 25 , 91 S.Ct. 160 , 27 L.Ed.2d 162 (1970), to sexual battery and two counts of child molestation for the repeated sexual abuse of his twelve-year-old daughter. 1 The trial court sentenced Koroma to 20 years to serve 10 years in confinement with the balance probated. Koroma, proceeding pro se, filed a "motion to modify the sentence and sentence reduction," which the trial court ultimately denied.
