Defendant Muhammad I. Waliallah challenges the sentence he received in Wyandotte County District Court in 1996 for second-degree murder after he had been referred from juvenile court for prosecution as an adult. Waliallah now contends the district court lacked jurisdiction because the murder charge had been dismissed and refiled after the juvenile court referral, rendering both the sentence and the conviction illegal.
