This case is before the Court ori direct appeal, following a- retrial, from a judgment of conviction of two counts of first-degree murder-and two sentences of death for the slaying of Robin Canady and Re-neesha Singleton. 1 We have jurisdiction. See art. V, § 3(b)(1), Fla. Const. For the reasons expressed below, we affirm Khalid Ali Pasha’s convictions but vacate the death séntences and remand for a new penalty phase based on the United States Supreme Court’s opinion in Hurst v.
