January 11, 1940, Sam Madsen, an employee of the Borden Company, sustained an injury in the course of his employment. The employer furnished and paid Madsen’s hospital and medical services and, in addition, paid him compensation in installments aggregating $321.83. This amount represented compensation for temporary total disability at the rate of $17.60 per week for eighteen weeks and two days.
