This was a suit for damages on account of injuries to certain live stock, alleged to have been sustained while the stock were being shipped over the defendant’s line of railroad from Atlanta to Macon. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs; the defendant made a motion for a new trial, which was overruled, and it excepted. It appears that the shipment was made from a point in Kentucky, and was in pursuance of a written contract of carriage, signed by the plaintiffs and by the agent of the initial carrier.
