The amended information in this matter charged defendant Travis Jordan Brown with one count each of murder (Pen. Code, 1 § 187, subd. (a); count one) and active participation in a criminal street gang (§ 186.22, subd. (a); count two). It alleged the murder was for the benefit of and in association with a criminal street gang (§ 186.22, subd.
