Plaintiff appeals from a decision of the Macomb County Circuit Court upholding a decision of the Michigan Employment Security Appeal Board in which his claim for unemployment compensation was denied for part of a layoff period.

Plaintiff, Joseph R. Hickson, was employed by defendant, Chrysler Corporation, from March 13, 1959, until June 12, 1970. On June 12, 1970, plaintiff, a salaried employee engaged in the design of tools and dies, was "permanently” laid off by defendant due to a lack of work. At this time plaintiff had accrued 17-1/2 vacation days to be used in 1970 and 10-1/2 vacation…
