On April 6, 1937, Balph. G. Sims filed a suit for the writ of mandamus against H. M. Stanley in his capacity as chairman of the Industrial Board, and Sharpe Jones in his capacity as secretary-treasurer of the board. The purpose of the suit was to require the defendants to pay to the plaintiff the sum of $522.17 as salary which he claimed was due to him as a director of the Department of Industrial Belations from February 6 to March 25, 1937.
