Defendant-Appellant Ford Motor Company (“Ford”) appeals a jury verdict awarding $9,003,000 to Plaintiff-Appellee Richard Rodgers Mason, as sole surviving parent and administrator of the estate of his son, Richard Robert Mason (“Dick Bob”), in connection with an automobile crash in which Dick Bob died. Ford contends that (i) the district court erred in denying Ford’s motion for a new trial based on inconsistent verdicts; and (ii) the district court abused its discretion in denying Ford’s motion for a new trial or remit-titur to correct excessive verdict.
