Pursuant to Rule 5, Ala. R.App. P., this Court granted a petition for permission to appeal filed by Charles A. Wood, M.D., Ozark Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, P.C. (“Ozark”), and David Claassen, M.D. (hereinafter referred to collectively as “the physicians”), the defendants in a medical-malpractice wrongful-death action filed by Ann Wayman (“Wayman”), the surviving spouse of Charles R.
