Reliction has rendered several thousand acres of the bed of Lake St. Clair suitable for cottages and summer homes. The State caused a survey to be made, set aside a part of such former lake bed for a park, divided the rest into lots and, by legislation, authorized leases of lots to private persons for long terms. About 2,000 persons are interested in lease-holdings covering over 3,000 acres of such land, and many cottages and summer homes have been built and taxes assessed and collected.
