A jury convicted the defendant of murder in the first degree on a theory of extreme atrocity or cruelty.1 The defendant appeals from his conviction and from the trial judge’s denial of his motion for a new trial. Represented by new counsel on appeal, the defendant argues error in the admission of certain evidence at trial and in certain of the judge’s instructions.
