Appeal from an order of the Family Court of Tompkins County (Barrett, J.), entered February 15, 1985, which denied petitioner’s application, in a proceeding pursuant to Family Court Act article 6, to modify a previous order awarding custody of the parties’ minor child to respondent.
The parties, who were married in 1974, separated in 1979. Respondent petitioned for custody of their only child in 1983 and, after petitioner failed to oppose the petition, Family Court awarded custody of the child to respondent.
