*127statement. *126In August, 1895, while employed as a helper in defendant’s printing establishment at Kansas City, plaintiff had his left hand caught and mashed between two rollers *127of a large printing press. About a year thereafter this action for damages was commenced, resulting at the trial in a verdict and judgment for plaintiff in the sum of $600, and defendant appealed.
