GARRISON, Judge.

Appellant, Lawrence Chaisson, appeals from a ruling of the Civil Service Commission of the City of New Orleans denying his request for increased compensation. In a letter received by the Civil Service Commission on December 16, 1985, the appellant, a sergeant with the New Orleans Police Department, requested that he be compensated according to the pay scale applicable for lieutenants in the police department.
