BACKGROUND
The procedural posture of this medical malpractice case is somewhat unusual. In July of 1998, plaintiff Sharon Primus brought a medical malpractice suit against Dr. Earl Walker, a surgeon and a United States Air Force Colonel (now retired), who had treated her in 1991 and 1992 after she complained of a lump in her right breast. 1 When Primus was treated by Dr. Walker, she was living with her husband at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
