The appellant, Ty William Ryan, was convicted of burglary in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-7-5, Ala. Code 1975, of theft of property in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-8-3, Ala. Code 1975, and of theft of property in the second degree, a violation of § 13A-8-4, Ala. Code 1975. He was sentenced, as a habitual offender with five prior felony convictions, to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the burglary conviction, to life imprisonment for the first-degree-theft-of-property conviction, and to 20 years' imprisonment for the second-degree-theft-of-property…
