Ronald Kenneth Casper entered an Alford 1 plea to burglary. I.C. § 18-1401. In exchange for his guilty plea, additional charges were dismissed including an allegation that Casper was a persistent violator. In January 2002, the district court sentenced Casper to a unified term of ten years, with a minimum period of confinement of three years. After being granted post-conviction relief for his defense attorney’s failure to file a timely appeal, Casper now appeals challenging only the length of his sentence.
