Appellant entered mixed pleas at a general court-martial with members convened at El-mendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. He was convicted pursuant to his pleas of two specifications of unauthorized absence, two specifications of wrongful use of cocaine, and two specifications of wrongful use of marijuana, in violation of Articles 86 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. §§ 886, 912a (2006).1 The adjudged sentence consisted of a bad-conduct discharge, six months of confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and reduction…
