August H. Wobbe, defendant in error, filed his bill in the Circuit Court of St. Clair county charging that on the 29th day of December, A. D. 1891, his mother, Laura Wobbe, died leaving him and her husband, Henry Wobbe, beneficiaries under a certain certificate of insurance held by her in the American Legion of Honor, for the sum of $2,000 payable in the following proportions, to wit: To said Henry Wobbe, her husband, one-fourth, or the sum of $500, and to Henry Schaub, trustee for said August H.
