GINSBURG, Circuit Judge:

This appeal challenges a district court order dismissing a civil action because a party “needed for just adjudication” under Rule 19 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 1 could not be joined as a defendant without destroying diversity jurisdiction. 2 The matter in controversy revolves around a contract between two Maryland citizens, plaintiff-appellant Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association, Inc.
