This appeal requires an examination of the scope of a defendant’s obligation to make a preliminary showing of the materiality of a witness’ psy*52chiatric records for the purpose of cross-examination. A jury convicted the defendant of burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, attempted assault in the first degree and larceny in the sixth degree.
