The defendant Scott, having been duly appointed to the office of constable by the proper authorities of the city of Greensboro, under the charter granted in March, 1870, and amended- in March, 1875, on June 28th, 1876, entered into bond payable to the state in the penal sum of three thousand dollars, with the defendants, C. N. McAdoo, J. F. Cousey and Seymour Steel as sureties, with condition that “ the said Scott shall well and truly discharge the duties of bis office, collect all taxes levied by the board, all license tax due under the charter and ordinances, and fines and penalties imposed…
