Danny Charles Washington was charged by a bill of information with aggravated arson, a violation of LSA-R.S. M^l.1 The defendant waived his right to a jury trial, and on August 18,1981, he was tried before the District Judge who found him guilty as charged. Immediately after trial, the State charged that Washington was a multiple offender as defined in LSA-R.S. 15:529.1, and a hearing on the issue was set for October 29, 1981.
