■ The appellants, as members, and as the representatives of, and on the relation of the Indians of California, filed an original and later an amended petition with the Indian Claims Commission in which they presented certain claims under Sec. 2 of the Indian Claims Commission Act of August 13, 1946, 60 Stat. 1049. It is unnecessary here to discuss the allegations of the petition other than to say that the claim presented by the petition on behalf of the appellants, which are now and for a long time past have been known and recognized as the- “Indians of California,” is for compensation for…
